AH, LORD GOD!

Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” - Jeremiah 1:6

If I can summarize how I feel about my life today, I can sum it up this way: “I don’t have enough ________.” Whether it is time, money, knowledge, or sleep, I just don’t have enough! This is how I feel about God’s call as well. I sense that God asks us to make a choice between trusting in Him or what we have (or do not have). Jeremiah felt the same way when God called him. God says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations” (1:5). God’s call was not based on how Jeremiah lived, nor was it based on Jeremiah’s possession. God appointed him before he was born! And what was Jeremiah’s response? AH, LORD GOD! I love his response to God because it is real. When was the last time you responded to God this way?  AH, LORD GOD! When He asks us to do the impossible, when He asks us to give more than we have, and when He asks us to let go of what matters most to us, our natural response should be AH, LORD GOD! We grow closer to God when we become vulnerable and be honest with Him. AH, LORD GOD, I cannot do it! AH, LORD GOD, I don’t have what it takes to do what You are asking! AH, LORD GOD, I don’t have enough! The Well Church, it may appear that God as asking us to give more than we have, but I believe that He has appointed us to be the proclaimers of truth in this world. As wells provided water for entire cities, we are called to be the well in the Greater Bergen County Area. We can only provide by receiving living water from Him. The Well Church, during this lenten season let us be vulnerable to God and one another by genuinely seeking God’s provision.
