But if not...
for we walk by faith, not by sight. —2 Corinthians 5:7
Today’s walking by faith example comes from the Book of Daniel. Certain Chaldeans (astrologers) accused Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego of paying no attention to King Nebuchadnezzar. When summoned,
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” —Daniel 3:16–18
Even when life and death were on the line, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked by faith. They were confident that God would deliver them from the fiery furnace. BUT IF NOT, they were ready to face death than compromise their faith.
The Well Church, let us have the confidence to say BUT IF NOT.
