Homecoming

For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; - 1 Peter 3:18 (NASB)

Why did Jesus have to come and die on a cross? It is because of our sin, which separates us from God. As Isaiah states,

"But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear." - Isaiah 59:2

The Apostle Peter answers this question and states that Jesus

"died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God."

This verse is a crucial statement on the substitutionary atonement of Christ. Jesus suffered and died to make way for us to come home to our Father.

The Well Church, on this Wednesday, let us think about Christ's atoning sacrifice. Let us give thanks to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." - 1 John 2:2 (NIV)
