Black Friday
[14] "Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. [15] In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. [16] In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: 'The LORD is our righteousness.' - Jeremiah 33:14–16
Today is Black Friday, which marks the beginning of a busy and hectic season. Whether you are looking for the latest Pokemon Cards, Nintendo Switch, or The Solo Bonfire Pit, it does not feel like the most wonderful time of the year. Black Friday is also a reminder that the season of Advent is upon us. It is a time for us to cultivate our awareness of God's redemptive actions as we eagerly await Christ's second coming.
How can we prepare for Advent? Let me encourage you to read through the gospel of Matthew, which should take about 2.5 hours. If you are not a reader, many apps read the text aloud for you. Between today and Sunday, would you take the time and read the life of Jesus Christ according to Matthew?
May you find peace, joy, hope, and love during this Advent season.
Soli Deo Gloria
