Out of Time

"So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do." — Ephesians 5:15-17

My wife often says, "I wish I do not have to sleep -- that would give me so much more time to accomplish what I have to do!" There never seems to be enough time in the day for everything we want to do, whether it's work, home improvement, car maintenance, exercise, or catching up on our favorite TV shows. In today's text, the Apostle Paul reminds the church to "make the most of every opportunity." We must proactively take advantage of the opportunity to do good. How can we do good when we do not even have the time to accomplish our tasks?

Brothers and sisters, we must prioritize our time to do good. We need God's wisdom and put Christ first. Psalm 90:12 says,

"So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom."

When we boldly ask God to give us the wisdom to put Him first, He will not only show us how but will also give us the faith and courage to stay the course.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." — Matthew 6:33
