Divine Love

“Is not Esau Jacob's brother?" declares the LORD. "Yet I have loved Jacob but Esau I have hated. — Malachi 1:2b-3a

God's love is unconditional. Loving Jacob over Esau refers to God's choice rather than affection. God is sovereign, and there is nothing Jacob has done to deserve His divine love and election. God's unconditional love applies to us as well. In Romans 5:8, the Apostle Paul writes,

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Brothers and sisters, let us remember God's love today as we reflect on His word. Christ died for his bride, the Well Church.

We love because he first loved us. — 1 John 4:19

May God's love compel you to love God and others.
