Give Me Faith
And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ? But we know where this man comes from, and when the Christ appears, no one will know where he comes from." - John 7:26-27
Based on the question of the Jerusalemites, we see that there is a possibility that the religious authorities know that Jesus is the Messiah for the first time in the Gospel of John. However, the sophisticated Jerusalemites knew better than the temple authorities. They held to the doctrine that the Messiah would be born of flesh yet would be unknown until he appeared to redeem Israel. Since everybody knew Jesus came from Nazareth, they rejected the notion that he was the Messiah. Their intellect and pride blinded them.
Dear Church, as we continue to walk with God, let us not rely on our intellect but trust in God and His word.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6
Let's ask God to give us faith to trust in Him.
