Mark of a Christian
Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing the works Abraham did, - John 8:39b
For one of my research assignments in seminary, the professor specifically instructed us not to interview Christians. "Why?" one asked. The professor answered, "Because Christians lie when it comes their sprituality." Although the statement was general, the professor made a good point. Many Christians tend not to be honest about their relationship with Christ. Regardless, lying should not be a mark of a Christian.
When Jesus confronts the Jews about their spiritual condition, he comments that their fruit does not align with being children of Abraham, as evidenced by their desire to kill Jesus. Abraham's fruit was faith, and he trusted and obeyed God.
And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness. - Genesis 15:6
Dear Church, what fruits will your friends, family members, or neighbors see in you? Would they identify you as a disciple of Jesus Christ? Jesus said,
By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." - John 13:35
We can only love our neighbors when we receive God's love. May God's love manifest in you today.
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! - 1 Chronicles 16:34
