Glory
When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.” John 13:31-32
In today's passage, we witness a crucial moment in Jesus' ministry as He prepares to face His imminent crucifixion. Right after Judas Iscariot leaves to betray Jesus, our Lord shares profound words of truth and reveals a remarkable insight into the purpose and glory of God. He begins by acknowledging that the time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. However, the world's understanding of glory is often associated with power, triumph, and exaltation. Yet, Jesus' perspective of glory is vastly different. It is through the act of humble service, sacrificial love, and obedience to the Father that true glory is revealed.
Jesus' impending suffering and death on the cross would be the ultimate demonstration of love and the means through which God's glory would be displayed. Jesus willingly embraced the path of selflessness, surrendering His own life for the redemption of humanity. In that act of profound love, the glory of God would be made manifest to the world.
Jesus explains that if God is glorified in Him, then God will also glorify Him in Himself. The Father and the Son are inseparable, and their glory is intertwined. Jesus' selfless act of obedience would not only bring glory to the Father but also result in the glorification of the Son.
Dear Church, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound message found in today's text. May we worship Jesus, our Lord, and Savior.
Soli Deo Gloria
