Trust and Obey
and as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water (now the Jordan overflows all its banks throughout the time of harvest). Joshua 3:15
The moment had come for the Israelites to claim the Promised Land. The Israelites stood on the banks of the overflowing Jordan River, their eyes fixed on the swift current before them. The Promised Land lay on the other side, a land flowing with milk and honey, but a challenging obstacle stood in their way.
In this critical moment of faith, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant approached the river's edge. The ark, representing God's presence and power, served as a reminder of His faithfulness and guidance. The priests had to take the first step into the mighty Jordan River with courage and trust.
The moment the priests stepped into the Jordan River, God demonstrated His power and faithfulness by parting the river, forming a dry path for the Israelites to cross on dry ground. God intervened, overcoming our obstacle, a reminder that when we step out in faith, He is there to make a way.
Like the Israelites, we, too, face rivers in our lives—challenges, trials, and obstacles that seem impossible. We stand on the brink, unsure of what lies ahead, filled with doubts and fears. But just as the priests took that first step, we are called to step out in faith, trusting in the power and faithfulness of our God.
Dear Church, as we meditate on today's passage, let us examine our hearts. What is the Jordan River before you? What is the obstacle that is preventing you from following God? May you find the courage and faith to step out in obedience, knowing that our God is faithful and that He will make a way for you.
May you trust and obey Him.
