Love One Another
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12
Today's text features a profound commandment from Jesus, a call to a love that reflects His sacrificial and absolute love. We find the essence of being a disciple of Jesus Christ and a powerful reminder of our identity as Christ-followers.
Jesus sets the bar high when He commands us to love one another "as I have loved you." His love was not limited by conditions, preferences, or personal gain. Instead, His love was sacrificial, unconditional, and transformative. He loved us while we were still sinners, and His love led Him to the cross. As we strive to love others, we're invited to embrace a love that seeks the best for them, even at personal cost.
The command to love one another is linked to our relationship with Christ. We cannot give what we do not have. The depth of our love for others flows from our connection with Jesus, the source of all love. Just as a branch remains connected to the vine to bear fruit, we must abide in Christ to produce the fruit of love. Our love for others becomes an overflow of the love we receive from Him.
Dear Church, let us embrace the command of our Lord Jesus Christ as a guiding principle for our lives. As a Christ follower, you have the privilege and responsibility to reflect His love in all you do. Let's lean into the relationship we have with Him, drawing from His eternal love to pour out onto others. In a world longing for authentic love, may your life shine as a testimony of Christ's love, and may your love be a genuine expression of your faith.
