Permanent Peace
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. —Isaiah 9:6
Merry Christmas!
How peaceful are you today? If you are really honest with yourself, you probably are not feeling too peaceful these days. Christmas should be a time of peace, but is a time of stress for many. The angels sang at Jesus’ birth, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14). Isaiah prophesied that one of the names of Jesus is Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). So, how can we feel peaceful today?
The season of advent is a reminder to all believers that God has set a permanent peace plan in motion with the birth of Jesus Christ. Even the government shall be upon Jesus’ shoulder, meaning that Jesus will bear the responsibility of governing the people. No matter what is happening around the world today, understand that Jesus did not come to temporarily fix our problems (both physical and political), but He has come to permanently remedy our predicament.
The Well Church, this Christmas let us turnoff the news, FaceBook, and twitter which only report on our fallen condition, but turn to Jesus Christ, who came to this earth to bring peace that surpasses all understanding by sacrificing His own life.
