Dirty Laundry
Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. —James 1:21
In today’s text, James reminds his readers to “put away” their filth and evil. To “put away” pictures one stripping off their dirty clothes. Stripping off dirty clothes should also remind the readers of their baptism since they were required to do so in the first century.
The Well Church, as we meditate on today’s verse, let us also remember our baptism and reaffirm our faith in Jesus Christ. As the Apostle Paul wrote,
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. —2 Corinthians 5:17
