Holding Faith

My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. -James 2:1

Being a person of faith requires hard work and sacrifice. Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" (Matthew 16:24). We must stay the course as we journey through faith. James encourages the church to show no favoritism "as you hold your faith," especially within the context of showing partiality based on status in society. We naturally show favoritism and thus must deny our natural inclination to do so.

The Well Church, as we seek unity in our church, let us make sure that we are not looking for uniformity. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to equip us with love so that we may love our neighbors as ourselves (Galatians 5:14).

Let us stay the course!

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." -Galatians 5:14
