His Love

Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? -James 2:5

James' declaration is similar to Jesus' teaching from Matthew 5:13. Jesus says, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." According to the ESV Study Bible, "Blessed is a state of well-being in relationship to God that belongs to those who respond to Jesus' ministry." Blessed are those who know their need for God.
