Be Satisfied (2-minute Devotional)

“Two things I ask of you, LORD; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
—Proverbs 30:7-9 (NIV)

Proverbs 30:7-9 is the only prayer recorded in the Book of Proverbs. In Agur’s prayer, we see the danger of having too much or too little. When we have too much, we trust in our wealth over God. When we do not have enough, we dishonor the name of God. As the Apostle Paul teaches in Philippians 4:12, let us learn to be content whether we have plenty or are in need. Let us be satisfied with Christ. Let us pray, “Give us this day our daily bread…” Christ is enough!
