Godly Wisdom
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. —James 3:17
Christians are called to live out their faith with wisdom from above. As we see in today's verse, wisdom from above produces among many things purity, peace, gentleness, meekness, mercy, and good fruits. The vital lesson the Bible teaches us is that we should not boast in the wisdom that came from above. Jeremiah writes,
Thus says the Lord: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord." —Jeremiah 9:23-24
As we navigate through life, let us look to Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God (1 Corinthians 1:30). May we boast as the Apostle Paul did in 2 Corinthians.
"That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." —2 Corinthians 12:10
May the LORD bless you richly today.
