I'll pray for you

If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? —James 2:15-16

In today's text, James warns against believers who ignore the needs of a brother or sister. "Go in peace, be warmed and filled" is an empty blessing. It is a Christian way of saying, "I don't want to help you." There is no intention to help the person.

Saying "I'll pray for you" to a person in need is a modern-day equivalent of saying, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled." It is an empty blessing that reveals faith without works. James warns that such faith is dead faith. Love and action must follow our faith.

Let me ask you, do you know the needs of your neighbor? Meet them. If you do not know their needs, reach out to them, and connect with them. Even during the pandemic, we can reach out and touch our neighbors.

The Well Church, let us be a living and active church by loving our neighbors and meet their immediate needs.
