A House of Prayer
And he told those who sold the pigeons, "Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade." - John 2:16
When Jesus overturns the tables of the moneychangers and drives the merchants away, He accuses them of making His Father's house a house of trade. In a similar account recorded in the gospel of Matthew, Jesus says,
"It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers." - Matthew 21:13
So, Jesus tells us that His Father's house should be a House of Prayer. This statement comes from Isaiah 56:7.
for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. - Isaiah 56:7b
The Well Church, do we look like a House of Prayer? To be a House of Prayer, we must live a life of prayer. How is your prayer life? Let us pursue a deeper relationship with God by going to God in prayer and reading God's word.
