Got Joy?
Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. - Psalm 33:1-3
We are five days away from Christmas. This season is a very busy one for many of us. Additionally, the global pandemic has dampened our spirits. What is meant to be a joyous season is anything but joyful. How should we respond as believers in Christ Jesus?
Let us look to today's verses as a way to prepare our hearts during this final week of Advent. The unnamed psalmist calls the righteous and upright, God's people, to shout for joy and sing a new song to the Lord. This imperative to worship and celebrate is to take place no matter what happens in our lives, regardless of our mood, busyness, or circumstance. We can only worship God with a joyful heart and sing to Him a new song when we understand and receive God's love, grace, and mercy.
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:22-23
Dear Church, every day offers us another possibility to experience God's faithfulness. I encourage you to pause and reflect on His love for you today. As God's people, let us worship the Lord with joy and gladness!
