COVID Blues
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. - John 3:14-15
Happy Monday!
I don't know about you, but as I shared yesterday, I'm growing weary of COVID-19, especially with the new Omicron virus spreading rapidly in our region. I sense that I am not alone in experiencing such weariness. It is easy to forget God and his providence, power, and provision in times like these. In our final week of 2021, let us focus on God as people of faith.
Leading up to John 3:16, the best-known text in the New Testament, Jesus refers to the Son of Man being "lifted up." It refers to Jesus' death on the cross and his resurrection and exaltation to glory. Today's text reminds all of us that our salvation happens when we look up to Jesus Christ, believing that he saves. Jesus lived the perfect life on earth and died on the cross so that you and I may have eternal life by believing in him.
Dear Church, amid our weariness, let us look up to Jesus, the founder, and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
