Draw Me Close
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. —James 4:8a
Drawing near to God is more than just public worship. Coming near to God requires repentance, a subject much discussed the past two weeks in the Book of James. One commentator states, “We come near to God to worship him, to serve him, to meet him, to seek help, and to gain assurance, as well as to repent” (Doriani).
Scripture teaches that when we draw near to God, he also draws near to us. Let us, therefore, worship, serve, meet, seek, trust, and obey Him today. May the LORD be with you today.
For what great nation has a god as near to them as the LORD our God is near to us whenever we call on him? —Deuteronomy 4:7 (NLT)
