Power of Love
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. —James 4:11
I don't know about you, but I tend to see other people's flaws before seeing their merits. As a leader, I want to correct people's actions before I give praise for good work. I often ignore to recognize good work. I am not saying that correction is not necessary. However, many of us tend to see others' flaws, while we want others to recognize our accomplishments. Jesus said,
"Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?" —Matthew 7:3
Brother and sisters, criticism and slanderous speech come from our sinful nature to not love our neighbors. As God has commanded, let us love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. We can only love when we truly understand Jesus' love for his people, which leads to repentance and life-change. Instead of criticizing, let us build each other up through the power of God's love.
