Covenantal Love
"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. " — Ephesians 5:25-27
Continuing from yesterday's text, the Apostle Paul addresses the husband's role in Christian families. He instructs the husband to love his wife by giving up himself for her. The ESV Study Bible gives a good explanation of this passage. It states,
"The husband is bound by love to ensure that his wife finds their marriage a source of rich fulfillment and joyful service to the Lord."
The Well Church, let us think about Christ's love for the church as we meditate on today's verses. Let us remember,
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." — Romand 5:8
Let us also pray for the men of The Well Church that they would follow Christ's leading in demonstrating covenantal love in their homes.
