Lasting Hope

And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. —John 20:4-7

The linen cloths lying in the tomb are proof that no one took Jesus’ body. Peter and John saw the evidence of Jesus’ resurrection. The resurrection happened! The resurrection of Christ is the center of our faith. Because Christ rose from the dead, as he promised, we know that what he said is true and that he is God. Jesus said,

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” — John 11:25-26

Brothers and sisters, the resurrection give us lasting hope — all who believe in Christ have eternal life. Let us place our hope in Him.
