God of Covenant

So shall you know that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may stand, says the LORD of hosts. - Malachi 2:4

Our God is a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God. The Bible Project defines a covenant as

"a chosen relationship or partnership in which two parties make binding promises to each other and work together to reach a common goal ... [they] contain defined obligations and commitments, but differ from a contract in that they are relational and personal."

In Malachi 2:4, God reminds His people that the commands to "listen" and "take it to heart" from Malachi 2:2 is for God to keep His covenant.

As we reflect on today's verse, let us remember that God's covenant led Jesus to the cross so that through Christ, we may be saved. Let us keep His commandment to love Him and love others.

And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 22:37-40
