Honor Your Parents

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you." - Exodus 20:12

The fifth commandment is the only one of the ten commandments that contain a promise -- "that your days may be long in the land." God does not just promise a long life, but a life filled with God's favor. The land is not a physical land on earth but eternal life.

Brothers and sisters, you can only honor your parents when your relationship with God is right. As you meditate on today's verse, know that your Father in heaven loves you.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him." - 1 John 3:1 (NIV)

Let us ask God to help us honor our parents.
