Firm Foundation

"The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away." - Psalm 1:4

Unlike a tree planted by streams of water, those who reject God are depicted as chaff. According to one commentator, chaff is rootless, weightless, and useless -- it has no foundation. Jesus teaches in the Gospel of Matthew,

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

The Well Church, let us place our trust in Jesus Christ and believe in His Word. Let us proclaim as the Psalmist declared,

"He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken." - Psalm 62:6
