Life-Giving Church

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. - Psalm 1:3

Many are concerned with their health. In the name of keeping healthy, we try to maintain a healthy diet, exercise and even monitor our sleeping habits. What about our spiritual health? In today's verse, the Psalmist compares a spiritually healthy person to a rooted, grounded, and nourished tree by the streams of water and so bears fruit. As we looked at Psalm 1:2 yesterday, one must delight in God's law and meditate on it day and night.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us plant ourselves near streams of living water by trusting in our Lord Jesus Christ. As John writes in his gospel,

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." - John 1:14

Let us be the life-giving church called by Jesus Christ.
