Spiritual Discernment
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
- Proverbs 3:5-6
What is spiritual discernment? Stephen Macchia states, "It's the choice of the bold and courageous to know God intimately. It's an invitation to all who desire a lifestyle that continuously seeks God's presence, power, peace, and purposes ... we embrace the discerning life by learning to tune out the many distractions demanding our attention and daily practice a preference for God."
And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.
- Philippians 1:9-10
The Well Church, we are facing critical decisions as a church. To practice spiritual discernment as a body, we must be in tune with God individually. As your pastor, I want to encourage you to practice noticing God in your life. Go to your special place where God shows up, whether it's your prayer closet, on your daily walks, or in your car, and go there often. Be attentive to God's presence, power, peace, and purposes in you. How is God leading you? May you have the courage to follow Him.
