Speak the truth boldly
His parents answered, "We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. But how he now sees we do not know, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age. He will speak for himself." (His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue.) Therefore his parents said, "He is of age; ask him." - John 9:20-23
In today's text, the formally blind man's parents were not willing to testify that Jesus healed their son because they feared being excommunicated from the synagogue. They were willing to testify that the man was indeed their son and that he was born blind, and they avoided speaking the truth for fear of consequences.
Many believers are in the same boat as the parents above. In fear of consequences, people will speak the truth up to a certain point but are unwilling to declare the biblical truth.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. - Matthew 10:28
The Well Church, let us speak the truth and speak it boldly with love.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? - Psalm 27:1
