A preference for God
Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death." - John 8:49-51
When Jesus was accused of being possessed by a demon, he first denied the claim, then asserted that he was obeying his Father and seeking his glory and honor. To Jesus, God's approval is everything.
Brothers and sisters, whose approval do you seek? We often seek approval in all the wrong places - not only at work, in our neighborhood, but even at church! We seek praise and recognition from those around us.
In what situations do you seek approval from others instead of God?
For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. - Galatians 1:10
Dear Church, let us seek the approval of God alone and live our lives to please Him as servants of God. As author Steve Macchia said, "Let us practice a preference for God."
