What's holding you back?

Just then his disciples came back. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, "What do you seek?" or, "Why are you talking with her?" - John 4:27

Whether it is one's origin, appearance, occupation, residency, or vaccination status, our prejudices hold us back. We need to "dress the part" to fit in. Jesus' disciples, showing up in the middle of Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman, marvel at what they see -- a Jewish rabbi speaking to a Gentile woman. If Jesus had followed the social norm of the day, the woman at the well would have missed the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ. Our prejudice holds us back.

What about you? What prejudices are holding you back?

Brothers and sisters, who are the Samaritan women in your life? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the strength and courage to be vulnerable and reach out to them, remembering that Jesus demonstrated his love to you through the cross.

May the Lord bless you as you represent him today.
