Closer to God

For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.
- John 5:21

In another astounding statement to the Jews, Jesus claims that he raises the dead and gives life, a prerogative belonging to God alone. His power to give life is not merely physical but also spiritual life which he provides immediately to those who hear the good news and believes in him.

Dear Church, he has given us life and brought us closer to God.

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.
- 1 Peter 3:18

During this Lenten season, let us focus on the cross and ask God to renew and restore us as we reflect and repent. May the Lord draw you closer to Him this season.
