Good Works

In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.
- Ecclesiastes 7:14

One of the false teachings that I have seen people believe is God will instantly reward you for your good works. In adversity, one might think that God is disciplining for not doing good. However, Scripture teaches us a different view of God's reward. During his test, Job says to his wife,

"You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?"
- Job 2:10b

The Apostle Paul encourages the church not to give up on doing good amid hardship. He says,

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."
- Galatians 6:9

The Well Church, let us now work to please our insatiable desire for immediate satisfaction. Let us not grow weary of doing good, knowing we will receive the inheritance as our reward for serving God.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
