Do you have God's love within you?

[42] But I know that you do not have the love of God within you.
- John 5:42

In rebuking the Jewish religious leaders, Jesus gives one of the harshest indictments -- that they do not have the love of God within them. They pride themselves on strictly obeying God's law, and however, they followed the law according to their understanding and rejected Jesus Christ. They completely missed the point of God's words.

As John writes in his first epistle, those who love the world cannot love God.

"[15] Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
- 1 John 2:15

The evangelist Paul Washer said,

"Even the most mature saint will struggle against worldliness and apathy toward God. There is no sincere Christian who does not lament his or her spiritual and moral failures. Yet this lamenting is one evidence of conversion. The unregenerate are unconcern about such things."

Dear Church, let us give glory to God, knowing that we are saved by faith in Christ alone. We have eternal hope in Christ. May the love of the Father manifest in your life.
