Condemned or Saved
For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.
- John 5:26-27
In today's text, Jesus explains that not only did God the Father impart life to him, but he has also given him authority to execute judgment because he is the Son of Man. Most people identify with Jesus as the giver of life, but not as the Judge as depicted in Daniel 12:1-2.
"At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."
Today's verses remind us that we are either condemned or saved. Jesus came first to seek and save the lost. Those who reject God's promise of salvation will be judged on the Day of Judgment.
Dear Church, let us reaffirm our faith in Him today, thanking Jesus for saving us.
