Repent and Believe!

About the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and began teaching. The Jews therefore marveled, saying, "How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?" - John 7:14-15

After arriving at Jerusalem during the Feast of Booths, Jesus heads to the temple to teach and preach. John does not mention what Jesus taught at the temple. However, reading through the gospels makes it easy to conclude what Jesus may have instructed. In the gospel of Mark, we find,

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." - Mark 1:14-15

When Christ speaks about the kingdom of God being near, he refers to the fact that God's rule over people's hearts and lives is now being established and the restoration of all creation.

Dear Church, let us take Jesus' message to heart and confess our sins to our Almighty God. Yes, as believers, we must continue to repent. Author Wellum writes, "When we confess sin, we are not experiencing a new justification but a renewed application of our justification."

In what area of your life do you need to repent?
