God's Word is Truth

So Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. If anyone's will is to do God's will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority. The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood. - John 7:16-18

Jesus, as the authoritative source, declares that his message is not his own but from God the Father. When one listens to religious speakers and teachers, the teaching must be measured against God's word. If they contradict the bible, the teaching is false, no matter how much you want to believe in them. Another litmus test is examining the subject and focus of their words. Are they pointing to Christ and seeking God's glory or themselves?

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. - 1 John 4:1

Dear Church, let us be vigilant in reading God's word and obey his teaching. Let us make sure we test attractive messages against God's word and reject any teaching that does not measure up. As Paul warns Timothy,

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions - Timothy 4:3

God's word is truth!
