Living Water II

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" - John 7:38

In John 4:10, Jesus used the term living water to indicate eternal life, and here he uses the term to refer to the Holy Spirit.

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." - John 4:10

Although there are no specific references from the Old Testament that corresponds to Jesus' words in today's text, He is giving a summary of the teaching illustrating the inward work of the Holy Spirit in a believer as a river of water flowing out to bring blessing to others. It is a privilege God gives to His children.
