Even Now
But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you." JOHN 11:22
Yesterday we buried to rest my father-in-law, who passed away unexpectedly on Friday. It is hard not to feel hopelessness and regret during the funeral service -- hopelessness in the sense of our inability to reverse death and regret not being able to bring complete closure.
As we continue to look at Martha's conversation with Jesus, we see how she looks to Jesus for hope amid grief and hopelessness, and she does not lose confidence in Jesus. In hopeless situations, pray as Martha prayed with hope, with the words even now. No matter what is going on in your life, even now, Jesus brings hope, life, love, and grace.
Dear Church, I want to thank you for the love and support you demonstrated during this time of grief for my family and me. My prayer for you comes from the Apostle Paul in Romans 15:13.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
