Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day." JOHN 11:23-24
In comforting Martha after the passing of her brother Lazarus, Jesus speaks, "Your brother will rise again." In a vague and simple statement, Jesus assures of Lazarus' resurrection. The message was mysterious since Jesus could have meant either Lazarus would rise again on the last day or immediately, and Martha only understood his response as on the last day. She did not fully understand what Jesus meant, and he was about to demonstrate his power which points to the last day.
Dear Church, go to God's word for hope when you feel hopeless and helpless in challenging situations. Although we may not fully understand why we are in the situation, we can surely trust God's power and promises.
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." JOHN 6:68-69
