Rise and Go

Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well. LUKE 17:19

In Luke 17:11-19, after Jesus cleanses the ten lepers, segregated and rejected by society, only one returns to Jesus, praising God, and worships and thanks Jesus by falling on his feet. Jesus responds,

"Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" LUKE 17:17-18

Surprisingly, the one who returns is a Samaritan, who the Jews refer to in derogatory terms such as "half-breeds" or "foreigners." No matter his standing in society, he understood what Jesus had done for him. As Jesus assures that the Samaritan's faith has saved him, He calls the healed leper to action by commanding him to "rise and go your way" -- to get up and live out his faith. Faith not only saves but also requires action.

The Well Church, Jesus Christ calls all of us to stand firmly on God's truth by living by faith and serving our brothers and sisters in Christ. How and where is Christ calling you to serve?

Let's not delay but rise and go!

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. JAMES 2:26
