God's Promises
Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?" JOHN 11:38-40
Jesus arrives at the tomb of Lazarus and commands to have the grave opened. Martha, who was worried about the odor after four days, was reminded by Jesus that He had previously told her that if she believed, she would see the glory of God. And as we see, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, bringing glory to God and fulfilling His promise.
"I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" JOHN 11:25b-26
He taught that faith in Christ alone leads to eternal life, even after physical death.
Dear Church, today's devotional is a reminder for all of us to hold on to the promises of Jesus, no matter what challenges we may face. One of my favorite promises is found in Isaiah 43:2,
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you."
What promise from God's word do you need to hold on to today?
May the LORD, who is mighty to save, bless you and keep you today.
