Glorify Your Name

"Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name." John 12:27-28a

In today's text, Jesus speaks about the struggle within His soul as He ponders his coming death on the cross. In His words, we see Jesus' humanity and divinity fully displayed. He experiences the same emotions we do when faced with difficult circumstances, yet he also demonstrates complete trust and obedience to his Father's will.

Today's text reminds us that we can trust in God's plan even when we face difficult and challenging times. Just as Jesus knew that His purpose was to glorify God through His death and resurrection, we, too, can pray the same prayer as Jesus -- "Father, glorify your name." It may be tempting to ask God to remove us from difficult situations, but like Jesus, we should ultimately desire to fulfill God's will, no matter the cost.

Dear Church, let us trust in God's plan for our lives and seek to glorify Him in all we do, just as Jesus did. Let us pray,

"Father, not my will but yours be done," Luke 22:42b

and trust that He will guide us through every trial and every triumph.
