Jesus' Last Sermon
And Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. John 12:44
Today's text is the beginning of Jesus' last public sermon recorded in the Book of John. From the start, we see Jesus' passion as he cried out to the crowds and wanted them to understand that to believe in Him was to believe in the one who sent Him. Jesus' entire ministry was centered on revealing the Father to the world and reconciling people to Him.
Jesus' cry also reveals his humility and submission to the Father's will. Throughout His ministry, Jesus continually submitted Himself to the Father's will and only did what He saw the Father doing. Jesus knew His teachings and actions were not His own but were given to Him by the Father.
Dear Church, as we reflect on Jesus' last sermon this week, let us focus on the importance of our relationship with our Father in Heaven, who sent Jesus to save us. It is a relationship of trust, love, and obedience to the one who created us and knows us intimately. May we always remember to put our faith in the Father and in His son Jesus Christ, who came to reveal Him to us.
