Purpose, Identity, and Mission
During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. John 13:2-4a
In today's text, we see that Jesus was fully aware of what was happening around him. He knew that the devil had prompted Judas to betray him, but Jesus was grounded in His purpose, identity, and mission on the eve of His betrayal.
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under His power, and He knew that he had come from God and was returning to God.
Dear Church, as believers in Christ Jesus, we, too, can be grounded in our purpose, identity, and mission. When we know who we are in Christ and understand our purpose, we can face challenging situations with greater peace and confidence. We can trust that God is in control and has a plan for our lives, even when things seem uncertain or challenging. Let us trust that God is in control and will guide us through our challenges.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
