Action, not words

Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18

Talk is cheap. It is one thing to say we love God and our neighbors, but another to live out our faith in love. Love, in its purest form, goes beyond mere words. It requires a genuine commitment to engage with others and meet them where they are. Love requires action. In these acts of love, we reflect the heart of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The world is hungry for authentic love, not just sentimental expressions. Our lives should be living testimonies of the love we proclaim. In our interactions with others, we must ask ourselves, "Am I truly reflecting the love of Christ through my actions?"

As we seek to embody the love described in 1 John 3:18, let us remember that love also requires truth. Love is not a license for compromise or turning a blind eye to sin. It embraces truth, honesty, and integrity. We are called to love others enough to speak the truth in love, holding fast to the principles and teachings of God's Word.

Dear Church, let us take a moment to examine our hearts and lives. Are we living out the love we profess? Are our actions aligned with the truth of God's Word? May the Holy Spirit empower us to love others with a genuine love that points people to the ultimate source of love, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
