Are you a doubter?
Thomas said to him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" John 14:5
In today's text, we discover an honest and relatable question posed by "doubting" Thomas. As Jesus spoke about His departure and the way to the Father, Thomas expressed his confusion, admitting that he and the other disciples did not understand where Jesus was going or how they could know the way. In Thomas' question, we learn to seek deeper understanding and encouragement that Jesus welcomes our doubts and questions.
Thomas demonstrated honesty and vulnerability by admitting that he did not understand. He acknowledged his uncertainty and sought clarity from Jesus. In our walk, it is essential to adopt a similar attitude of openness, acknowledging our doubts, questions, and areas of confusion. God welcomes our honesty and invites us to bring our uncertainties before Him.
We can find comfort and assurance in Jesus' words when faced with uncertainty. He is the one who leads us into a restored relationship with the Father, and through Him, we find meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. Jesus invites us to seek Him wholeheartedly, assuring us that those who seek will find Him.
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
Dear Church, let us embrace the example set by Thomas and bring our questions and doubts to Jesus. Let us seek deeper understanding and more intimate knowledge of Him. May we approach Him with honesty and vulnerability, knowing that He welcomes our questions and desires to guide us into a deeper revelation of His truth. May He draw you closer to Him.
