No Longer Slaves

"No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you." John 15:15

Today's text reveals a remarkable shift in the relationship between Jesus and His disciples—a transition from servants to friends. In this verse, we are invited into the intimacy of friendship with the Savior, marked by shared knowledge and deep connection.

Jesus declares, "No longer do I call you servants." This statement speaks to a transformation in our relationship with Him. While servants must follow orders without understanding the master's intentions, friends share a deeper bond of trust and understanding. This change reflects the depth of Jesus' desire for intimacy with us.

In calling us friends, Jesus reveals His heart to us. He affirms, "For all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you." As friends, Jesus trusts us with knowledge of God's plans and purposes. This sharing of divine insights isn't merely informational—it's an invitation to participate in God's redemptive work actively.

Dear Church, let today's verse resonate deeply within your hearts. Jesus calls us friends, offering a level of intimacy that is unmatched. As friends of Christ, we are privileged to His plans and purposes and invited to walk alongside Him in His mission. May you respond to this invitation with joy, gratitude, and a desire to deepen your friendship with the One who knows you intimately and loves you unconditionally.
